Meriel Paget – a violinist and vocalist whose music blends the richness of folk traditions and stories with contemporary sounds. Rooted in her musical upbringing in Welsh and English folk music, she composes using loops and electronic effects to create intricate multilayered arrangements that act as a base for her songwriting.
Growing up in rural West Wales, Meriel’s compositions reflect the emotions and experiences of her journey into adulthood, often drawing inspiration from the landscapes and memories of her childhood home.
With her newly formed Leeds-based band featuring Emily Keeble on cello and vocals, Leo Thomas on drums and Samwise Seidel on guitar, Meriel and her band are exploring new textures and soundscapes that range from energetic to more delicate moments.
The Undead Cat – Lucas Paw is an alternative/ Folktronica singer-songwriter and producer under the name The Undead Cat. Using acoustic folk instruments and vocal techniques with electronic elements and digital manipulation. Combining what’s ancient with a modern context. Often write with an acoustic guitar and sample sounds of nature to create ethereal and cathartic songs that reflect their emotions and experiences.
Woody Lander – a Leeds based guitar and banjo player, playing trad and contemporary folk and blues, whose music brings the folk stories and legends to life, effortlessly blending the old with the new and the foreign with the familiar. He incorporates other genres into his sound and also plays originals that blend seamlessly into his set with songs hundreds of years old.
Tickets £6 advance, £8 on the day/door – but also NOTAFLOF (just come say hello on the night.)
