Songs In The Key of Leeds
2nd February 2025 @ Hyde Park Book Club
Closing out Independent Venue Week 2025 – 27th January to 2nd February
A track by track re-play (& re-working) of Stevie Wonder’s best selling album, performed by a collection of Leeds jazz (& beyond) bands and performers.
Musical Direction & House Band by Alex Williams
How does this work?
Bands or solo performers can apply to play a track from the album. You can either bring your band, or we will have a House Band who will be able to back you for the night.
If you’re a solo performer who would like to use the House Band for the night, please tick the box when you are applying. We need to know in advance.
You can either play the track as it was on the album, or you are welcome to create your own re-imagining. If the latter, that’s really for bands or performers bringing their own band for the night – not for people wanting to use the House Band.
On the night, we’re going to have a shared backline for all performers – this will all be sorted in advance so we know what everyone will have. We’ll need to ‘streamline’ things to keep track changeovers as quick as possible – it’s a 17 track album so we’ve a lot to fit in!
Apply to play
If you would like to perform at this night, please complete the form below. Please only apply if you can guarantee to be free on the evening of 2nd February 2025.
We know there will be a lot of interest in the night, so we won’t be able to give everyone a slot – but we’ll be as fair as possible!
The submission form will made live on this page at 12pm Friday 27th September.
All submissions need to be completed by 31st of October.
What happens next?
We’ll collate all the submissions and do our best to allocate them as fairly as possible. There’ll definitely be some pulling names out of hats for the popular track choices…
For bands/performers where we’re not able to give one of their top three track choices, we’ll come back and discuss what tracks are left and split them out – again, as fairly as possible.
Thanks for getting involved!
Dan, Not a thing.
